Dr. La Keita D. Carter, a licensed psychologist and international speaker, specializes in trauma, sexual wellness and relationships, addictions, women’s issues, and cultural barriers to treatment. A native Baltimorean, Dr. Carter completed her bachelor's degree at Temple University (magna cum laude) and master's and doctoral degrees at Loyola University Maryland. She is also a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) and licensed clinical alcohol & drug counselor (LCADC) in Maryland.
Afectionately known as “DrL” by her patients and students, Dr. Carter is the owner and CEO of the Institute for HEALing, LLC (iHEAL), an award-winning, nationally-accredited wellness agency based in Owings Mills, MD that specializes in the treatment of mental health disorders in children, teens, and adults. In addition to practicing, she teaches psychology at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She has authored three psychology textbooks and regularly writes articles related to sexual health, wellness, and relationships in her Psychology Today column, Inside Intimacy.
She has been honored as Baltimore County’s 2024 Entrepreneur of the Year, American Psychological Association Fellow (2024), one of Maryland’s Most Admired CEOs (2022), Maryland’s Top 100 Women (2021 and 2023), and Top 40 under 40 (2021) by The Daily Record and a Leader in Diversity (2022) by The Baltimore Business Journal. She has been featured guest discussing mental health topics in media outlets like The Afro, Fox45, WBAL, New York Times, Washington Post, WJZ13, and Baltimore Sun.
She serves as the Vice-President of the Board of Directors for the Black Mental Health Alliance, Inc. and board member for Pro Bono Counseling. She is also a member of the Board of Deacons at Providence Baptist Church and chaplain of one of the church’s oldest clubs. In July 2024, she was appointed to Maryland State’s Board of Psychologists by Governor Wes Moore.
A 23-year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., our nation’s oldest historically Black Greek-letter organization for women, Dr. Carter was initiated in Delta Mu chapter at Temple University. She is an active member in Rho Xi Omega chapter (Baltimore, MD) where she currently serves as the Mental Health Committee Chairman, Technology Committee Chairman, and External Awards Committee Co-chairman. She is also the Mental Health Chairman for the North Atlantic Region, which spans from Washington DC to Vermont.
She is married with four children, ranging in age from 5-14. She enjoys exercising (liting and cycling), baking, cooking, traveling, home decorating, and watching movies. She reserves Sundays, her favorite day of the week, for faith, family, food, and fun, which includes baking her weekly loaf of bread.

She's also the visionary author behind the International Collaborative Book Project titled "She Is Well," which evolved into a global sisterhood movement, particularly impacting the lives of women in Ghana during the pandemic.

Within this program, she has crafted a roadmap for women to feel confident and alluring through the challenges of hot flashes, brain fog, insomnia, and low libido. Delayna firmly believes that women can better navigate menopause when they understand the nuances of this transitional phase, which she affectionately terms "the feminine evolution."

India McCleod is a minister, motivational speaker, coach, and consultant who empowers individuals to unleash their potential to live out their purpose. She is an entrepreneur and consultant in various business ventures. India owns and operates I. McCleod Consulting, where she provides Operations, Human Resources, Events and Project Management consulting services to her clients.
Although India has always ministered to others in various ways, she accepted her call to preach the gospel in 2021. She serves as a licensed Associate Minister at the New Psalmist Baptist Church in Baltimore, under the leadership of Bishop Walter S. Thomas, Sr. At her church she is a pastoral counselor, facilitates small groups, and works to provide the local community with support through missions and outreach. She also has a special interest in congregational care and serves bereaved families by performing funeral services and offering grief support.
In addition to her service to church, India is committed to her personal mission to Enlighten, Inspire, and Empower others through coaching, learning opportunities, and empowerment events. She is the founder and host of the Enlighten, Inspire, Empower Women’s Summit, where she brings women together to be equipped and empowered for greatness.
In 2003, India earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication/Public Relations from Towson University and holds a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Counseling with a concentration in Life Coaching from Liberty University. She is also a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program. India is the honored wife of Minister Devron McCleod and the proud mother of Chloe and Isabella.
